An interdisciplinary project to coproduce sustainable and integrated approaches for community-led upgrading. It explores construction, environmental management and urban governance in slum upgrading processes in Durban.

The name of our project was agreed between the partners and community collaborators and intends to reflect the coproduction of knowledge and community-led aspect of the upgrading processes we are engaging with and that we aim to support and enhance.

ISUlabaNtu lies under the ESRC Urban Transformations Portfolio of projects based at the University of Oxford. The network provides support for communication, knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement and disseminating of outputs.
